Social District

Old Town Social District

Lansing's Old Town neighborhood is home to many participating businesses of the "Social District," which allows patrons to carry alcoholic beverages out of a restaurant and walk around or enjoy it al fresco within established boundaries.

Do's and Don'ts of the Social District

Do: Purchase a "social district" beverage from a participating restaurant (listed below). It will come in a labeled and disposable cup.

Do: Head outdoors and around the neighborhood with your drink but be mindful and stay within the established social district boundaries (see below for map).

Do: Keep track of the hours. Lansing's social district hours are between 9am-10pm Sunday through Thursday and between 9am and midnight Friday and Saturday.

Do: Stay up to date on participating businesses in the district. It is subject to change as new restaurants are approved by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission!

Do: Properly dispose of your cup after you are finished.

Don't: Assume that every bar or restaurant participates, make sure to ask!

Don't: Travel between Lansing's or any other social district. You'll need to finish and discard your drink before moving to a new district.

Don't: Drink your beverage before or after hours.
