Old Town Commercial Association is hosting its sixth annual Taste & Tour of Old Town, a progressive food sampler and exclusive loft tour. The sampler gives visitors a chance to taste a variety of Old Town’s eats and an opportunity to tour real estate in Old Town.

In 2007, members of The Distorted Waltz began playing music together for fun. Years later, the band reunited and started to perform more seriously, creating a self-titled album and gaining international attention. Taking influence from bands such as Soundgarden, The Police, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, this Bay City, Mich.-based group has a unique 1970s-inspired sound.
In fall 2011, The Bard Owls formed after several members met and performed together during a folk music class at Michigan State University. The East Lansing-based group performs old time folk music and original compositions, as well as covers of popular songs throughout the state.
Citing influences such as Frank Zappa, Charles Mingus and Phish, Desmond Jones combines jazz, funk and progressive rock, among other genres, to create a one-of-a-kind sound. The six member, East Lansing-based band incorporates the saxophone, clarinet, flute, guitar, bass guitar and drums into their performances, which take place throughout the state.
Tickets are priced $15, $5 for children ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. PRESALE Taste & Tour tickets get two extra food sample tickets (7 in total)! Tickets will also be sold for loft tours only for $5 in advanced and day of the event.
Capital City Film Festival is offering participants who have Taste & Tour wristbands free entrance into one film block of their choice at the Temple Building in Old Town that day. The film schedule for the Temple Building is on the film festival website, http://ccff.festivalgenius.com/2013/schedule/week.
Participants check in for the event at the OTCA office where they may either purchase tickets or pick up previously ordered ones. All attendees will receive a map highlighting the participating restaurants and lofts, wristband to grant entrance to the lofts and food sample tickets. Food sample tickets are used at participating restaurants to receive the sample offered. If attendees are interested in purchasing additional samples they may do so at the OTCA office the day of the event.
The Taste & Tour of Old Town is a fundraiser for the OTCA, which helps to continue its mission of revitalizing Lansing’s Old Town district.
