11th Annual Scrooge Scramble Scores Big Again

With unseasonably warm December weather, and lots of holiday cheer, about 200 runners and walkers headed down to Old Town earlier this month for the 11th annual Scrooge Scramble 5K. The course took participants along the Lansing River Trail starting and finishing near the Brenke Fish ladder.

Kyle Tucker took first place for overall male finisher with a chip time of 16:34.3 and Hazel Anderson was the overall female finisher with a chip time of 22:01.4.

Inside Sir Pizza, the official registration and finish line hub, runners and walkers gathered to check their times, pick up any winning medals and relax after the run. The event was followed by the annual Holiday Hullabaloo, with shops throughout Old Town offering refreshments, discounts, pictures with Santa and more!

“It was wonderful having so many 5K enthusiasts in Old Town, and even better seeing them enjoy Holiday Hullabaloo after the race,” said OTCA Executive Director Vanessa Shafer.

It’s time to deck yourself in holiday running gear again as the Old Town Commercial Association hosts the 11th annual Scrooge Scramble 5K Run/Walk on Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. The course starts in Old Town and takes you along the Lansing River Trail, where you may see a few of your favorite holiday characters racing beside you.

Early registration is $25 per person if you sign up by Nov. 24. Standard registration after Nov. 24 is $30. Registration is available on race day with cash only. Packet pickup will be available on race day starting at 8 a.m. inside Sir Pizza Grand Cafe on the corner of Turner St. and Grand River Ave.

All entries include a warm, winter beanie featuring the Scrooge Scramble logo. To register for the race, click here.
