We may throw one heck of a party but we know how to get down to business as well with five full time committees dedicated to making a stronger, more vibrant arts district for the Capital region. These five committees are rooted the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Main Street Four Point Approach to community development (If you would like to join a committee please fill out the form below).
Now I could tell you all about why this is an amazing format for all community development and cities across the country are silly not to apply it to their own community development programming...or... I could tell you that it is a grassroots form of economic development and historic preservation through community participation that empowers stakeholders to grow, incrementally, the neighborhood in which they hope to live, work and play.
Not bad, eh?
Now you ask, Four Point Approach, I though you said you had five committees? Well, we do. It is Old Town, and we know we have to be just little left of normal.
As of 2012, OTCA had 1,300 volunteers working in five different areas, including:
Promotions Committee
That works brand and market the district and the many wonderful businesses and resources within that district through advertising campaigns, marketing materials, festivals and events. Promotions Committee meets: First Tuesday of the month at 9am at the OTCA office.
2013 Community Projects
Design Committee
This committee makes sure that once all those people come down here, they have something to look at, including some of the best architecture and the highest concentration of historic buildings in Lansing. Those great buildings are accented by clean and vibrant streetscapes and parks. Design Committee meets: First Tuesday of the month at noon at the OTCA office.

Economic Restructuring Committee
Festivals and flower pots don't mean a thing unless you have strong businesses to perpetuate this euphoria so the Economic Restructuring Committee works to retain and recruit appropriate businesses to the neighborhood through marketing, resources and services. Economic Committee meets: Second Tuesday of the month at 11:45am at the OTCA office.

The ROOT Group
The Residents of Old Town is our newly added committee and a slight variation from the tried and true Four Point Approach, but as a urban Main Street district we felt it important to address the needs of the nearly 4,000 residents living in and around Old Town. And that is what this group does through food accessibility, crime prevention and beautification. The ROOT Group meets: Third Thursday of the month at 7pm the OTCA office.

Organization Committee
Now who, might you ask, provides the manpower and the funds to make all of this happen. Well these guys of course. This small committee packs a punch by focusing their efforts on fundraising and volunteer recruitment and retention through volunteer recognition events, fundraising and a little PR to boot. The Organization Committee meets: Fourth Monday of the month at 5:30pm at the OTCA office.
