The Greater Lansing Food Bank has addressed Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties’ food needs for more than 30 years. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Lansing area residents and businesses, monetary donations and donations of millions of pounds of food and tens of thousands of hours of volunteered time have enabled us to provide food to hundreds of thousands of people in need over the years. In 2012 the Mid Michigan Food Bank and the Greater Lansing Food Bank combined operations to create a new regional food bank serving the seven counties of Ingham, Eaton, Clinton Shiawassee, Clare, Isabella and Gratiot. In each county and in every community, our goal is to collaborate locally to meet the needs of each community.

Every dollar donated to the Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) will make a difference. The needs we meet do not go away. The Greater Lansing Food Bank remains committed to be a responsible steward of our community’s generous donations.

For 30+ years the Greater Lansing Food Bank has reinvested the dollars it has received through generous donations and grants back into the community to feed people who are our friends, neighbors and coworkers. Over the past year your financial support has allowed us to touch more than 50,000 lives by providing emergency food to those in need through our network of human service agencies, community kitchens, shelters and food pantries.

In addition, working with the pantries of the Ingham County Food Bank (ICFB), together we have served nearly 20,000 families or more than 50,000 individuals during our 2011-2012 fiscal year, a significant increase from the previous year. The ICFB pantry network provides nearly 1.3 million pounds of food to children, seniors, working families and those on a fixed income. With the new consolidated food banking operation, we will partner with 159 agencies in 2012-13 across the seven counties, distributing more than 7 million pounds of food to feed those who might otherwise go hungry.

At the GLFB, we are committed to working with our many community friends and partners to make certain that no one in our community will go hungry.
