OLD TOWN LANSING IS BRINGING THE SCRAP BACK!

Ten thousand pounds of scrap metal, 20 teams, two weeks and one intense competition. That defines the Old Town Lansing Scrapfest. Artists interested in participating in the fifth annual Old Town Scrapfest, a competition in which teams of artists, welders and creative community members use recycled scrap materials from Friedland Industries in Old Town to create new works of art, can now complete an application and return it before Friday, May 10.

OLD TOWN LANSING HOSTS RIBBON CUTTING FOR NEW BUSINESSES

The Old Town Commercial Association (OTCA) is hosting a Ribbon Cutting to welcome the six new businesses in Old Town. The tour will be led by the Mayor of Lansing, Virg Bernero, and will take place on Wednesday, April 10, at 11 a.m.

Sprouting Up Soon: Old Town Farmers' Market

Amid the freezing snow and sleet, we in Old Town are anxiously awaiting the first signs of spring, and most importantly, our farmer’s market! Vibrant colors, fresh food and local music are among some of delightful things the market will offer this upcoming season.

Festival of the Moon and Sun

It’s time to finally dig out those sunglasses and begin preparing your palate for a weekend of food, drink, music and overall Old Town lovin’. The OTCA is proud to be hosting our 9th annual Festival of the Moon and 14th annual Festival of the Sun the weekend of June 21-22, 2013. We know how you feel; we can barely contain our excitement. Start your weekend right on Friday, June 21st from 6 to 11 p.m. with a little indulgence courtesy of Bell’s Brewery. Simply kick back and enjoy the live entertainment.

Portable Feast Provides Old Town with New Dining Option

From quiche and breakfast burritos to sandwiches and soups, Portable Feast’s original menu consisted of a wide-ranging array of options, and on March 21, it expanded to include even more choices. Portable Feast recently started serving dinner every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4-9 p.m. Diners are given the choice of three different entrees, which rotate every night. Some possible options include portabella mushroom pasta, grilled Cajun chicken breast and stuffed pepper with sun-dried tomato sauce.  

Historic Comfort Station Revitalized

After being empty for about two decades, Old Town’s iconic Comfort Station finally welcomed new tenants last month. The historic building is now home to three unique businesses – Bradly’s Home and Garden, Michigan Community Resources and the Michigan Historical Preservation Network (MHPN).
