Membership Spotlight: Becoming the glue- member or not

Want to be more involved in the Old Town district? Enjoy planning events or being a leader in the community? You don’t have to be a member to join one of our many committees.As a committee member, be involved in the planning and decision making to improve events, community projects and promotion of  Old Town. 

  • Promotions Committee– works on branding and marketing the district and the wonderful businesses and resources that we have to offer through advertising campaigns, marketing materials, festivals and events. 
    • Past Projects– Gallery Walk, Chalk the Town, Member Business Directory, Taste and Tour of Old Town
    • Meetings: Second Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the OTCA office
  • Design Committee– creates the wonderful atmosphere that Old Town has.  We have some of the best architecture and highest concentration of historic buildings in Lansing. Why not show it off?  This committee is in charge of keeping the streetscapes and parks clean, vibrant, and alive.
    • Past Projects– Hanging flower baskets, holiday decorations, community planting/clean-up, mural competitions
    • Meetings: First Tuesday of every month at noon in the OTCA office 
  • Economic Restructuring Committee- works on retaining and recruiting businesses to our neighborhood through marketing, resources and services. 
    • Past Projects- Organize the broker luncheon, Creating business resources guide/ starting a business guide, Wake Up Old Town!, Creating Old Town testimonial video
    • Meetings: Second Monday of every month at noon in the OTCA office. 
  • The ROOT Group (The Residents of Old Town)- works on creating a safe and secure district for our residents through food accessibility, crime prevention and beautification. With nearly 4,000 residents living in and around Old Town it is important that they feel safe and apart of this wonderful and unique place.
    • Past Projects- Community Garden, Plant Your ROOT, Old Town Farmers Market
    • Meetings: Third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. in the OTCA office. 
  • Organization Committee- works together in making the magic of Old Town come to life.  This committee focuses their efforts on fundraising and volunteer recruitment and retention through volunteer recognition events, fundraising, and a little bit of PR.
    • Past Projects- Compassionate Feast, Annual Meeting, Sponsorship, Business and Individual Membership, Volunteer Handbooks
    • Meetings: Fourth Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at the OTCA office. 
  • Festival of the Moon and Sun Committee
    • Meetings: Bi-weekly on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. at the OTCA office 
  • Oktoberfest Committee
    • TBD 
  • Scrapfest Committee
    • Third Wednesday of every month at Such Video in Old Town.
