Annual Meeting & Winter Mixer Recap

In Old Town, there is always something to celebrate. Whether it is our thriving businesses, dedicated volunteers or our passionate community members and supporters, Old Town is a place that exemplifies community empowerment, economic development and the celebration of culture and creativity.

Each year OTCA hosts its Annual Meeting & Winter Mixer, an event to highlight the accomplishments of the Old Town community, honor those who have had a major impact and discuss ideas for the upcoming year. Last year was a time for major growth and achievement in Old Town, including a record high festival season, hosting a community conversation and visioning session for the future of Old Town and the long awaited Robert P. Busby Memorial was installed.

Without the continued support from all of Old Town’s community members, businesses owners and our fabulous volunteers, our events would not be successful. At the Annual Meeting & Mixer, nine outstanding community members were honored for their support, love and passion towards the bettering of Old Town. Below are a few highlights of the nominated winners.

Amanda Lick was named the Robert P. Busby Volunteer of the Year, nominated by the OTCA Board of Directors. Amanda’s passion, great energy and overall mission to do good in the Old Town community had a major impact on all our events this past year—we were pleased to honor her for her outstanding involvement.

Ena Busby received the Robert P. Busby Accomplishment of the Year award. It was a very emotional acceptance for Ena, as she spoke about her late father, Robert Busby, and his hopes for Old Town. Ena dedicated her award to her father, honoring him every day with her work at the Creole Gallery and her other properties within Old Town. Robert meant so much to all in the Old Town Community and he will continue to be honored through the Robert P. Busby Memorial Garden.

Finally, Sherry Campbell accepted the Robert P. Busby Partner of the Year award on behalf of Two Men and a Truck. Two Men and a Truck assisted at Festival of the Moon and Sun, Old Town Oktoberfest and Compassion Feast by providing a way to transport materials throughout the day of the event. They have also signed on as partners for 2014.
