Old Town Business Spolight

Local. Organic. Sustainable.

Nine months ago, Rhea Van Atta brought us the Old Town General Store that opened May 1, 2013. She returned to her roots in Old Town to bring Lansing a store that highlights Michigan products in addition to carrying local products and food.

Old Town General Store specializes in local, sustainable and organic food. Customers will find local produce, eggs and milk from small vendors across the tri-county area, as well as products from all around the state of Michigan, including the U.P.

Old Town General Store offers a combination of things to meet all consumers’ needs at reasonable and fair costs. Van Atta is always searching for new products to line the shelves of her cozy store to ensure consumers find what they’re looking for and maybe something unexpected as well.

You might be there for more than groceries!

Many of us may remember the good time we had listening to live music in the rear courtyard of the Old Town General Store last summer and fall. Well get ready, because Thursday evening is making a comeback. Concerts in the Courtyard is coming back this summer. The local acoustic music series will return in June and run through September in the beautiful flower-lined courtyard of the Old Town General Store. More details to come!

For Rhea Van Atta, Old Town General Store is an extension of her home, there is always good food, good wine and good beer.
