First Fridays welcomes new specials, new businesses

On Friday, October 4, 2013, the Greater Lansing area will again be hosting its one of a kind specials for First Fridays. The First Fridays event is unique in that it brings people of all ages together for a fun night out with specials from a wide range of participating businesses.

This month, First Fridays is excited to announce their new participating business, Goombas Pizza in East Lansing, which will be offering a special that can’t be beat—buy any pizza or Pokee Stix at regular menu price, and get the second of equal or lesser value for free. First Fridays is also excited to announce a new special from Grand Traverse Pie in which First Fridays participants can receive a free 16oz coffee with the purchase of any breakfast item.

For the October First Fridays, Old Town Lansing’s Oktoberfest will be going on at the same time, making Greater Lansing an even more fun place to be this First Friday. Oktoberfest will have music, entertainment, food and nearly twenty different types of beer. Residents will be able to come out, enjoy some Oktoberfest fun and also visit some of the local businesses and get in on the First Fridays fun.

The First Fridays event encourages shops, galleries, restaurants, and family events throughout the Greater Lansing area to feature unique specials, extended hours, special events and entertainment.  First Fridays’ main goal is to get more people out and exploring everything that Greater Lansing has to offer.  This initiative was originally designed to add interest to the region, raise awareness of its offerings and to spur economic development by attracting more people to all the unique local businesses.

Team Lansing and MSUFCU have worked together to make First Fridays affordable for everyone by helping to provide free CATA bus service. All CATA bus service will be free beginning at 7:00pm until end of regular service on First Fridays. This includes fixed-route buses and Spec-Tran. The Entertainment Express trolleys will also begin running for free beginning at 5:30pm. Trolleys run from downtown Lansing to downtown East Lansing every half hour until 3:00am.
