Calling All Volunteers!

With summer just around the corner, festival season in almost here! We are excited preparing for what is sure to be an outstanding summer. To get the most out of festival season, we need your help. We have all different kinds of festivals taking place this summer that offer a majority of volunteer duties.  Help contribute to the success of Old Town by signing up to volunteer today!

Taste & Tour of Old Town: Saturday, April 13, 2013
Old Town Commercial Association is hosting its sixth annual Taste & Tour of Old Town, a progressive food sampler and exclusive loft tour. Volunteers will be collecting tickets at the participating restaurants, working the check-in table, and monitoring loft entry.

Document Destruction Day: Saturday, April 20, 2013
Destroy sensitive documents at this free, regional, residential use only recycling event being held at Friedland Industries, Inc. 405 E. Maple St., Lansing, Michigan 48906. Volunteers will be helping unload paper/documents from people’s cars and placing them into bins for shredding.

Community Clean Up: Saturday, May 4, 2013
OTCA is hosting its annual spring Community Clean-Up from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.  at Turner Mini Park to get Old Town ready for festival season. Volunteers will help out with planting and painting.

Festival of the Moon & Sun: Friday, June 21,2013 – Saturday, June 22, 2013
The Festival of the Moon & Sun gives you a chance to enjoy great music, delicious foods, mid-Michigan’s premier beer, and wine.  Volunteers will be pouring beer/wine, working the front gate and selling tickets.

Scrapfest: Friday, June 21,2013 – Saturday, June 22, 2013
Scrapfest is an intense two week competition in which teams of artists, welders and Scrapfest enthusiasts utilize recycled scrap materials from Freidland industries in Old Town Lansing. Volunteers will be working the merchandise table and helping with the People Choice Award voting.

Community Garden: Sunday, April 28, 2013
This year we will have two gardens in Old Town. The work day will be from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Something new this year is we will be building a water collection system. Volunteer duties will range from mulching, putting out compost, planting, and getting the garden ready!
