Get your chalk ready to decorate the sidewalks of Lansing’s historic Old Town. Chalk of the Town, Old Town’s fun and creative chalk festival, is taking place Saturday, June 4. Chalk of the Town will take place during Be A Tourist in Your Own Town From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Various artists will be creating a masterpiece on the concrete in front of our favorite retailers in Old Town. Coming from all over Michigan, artists range from creative professionals, families, to contestants as young as 3 years old! Area artists of all ages and experience levels will have the opportunity to bring the streets to life, armed with nothing but chalk and creativity! And with over 30 participating contestants, of groups, couples, and families, you are bound to see one of kind artwork.
Chalk of the Town is free and prizes from Lansing’s cultural attractions will be awarded following the judging at 2 p.m. Awards will be given for judges’ choice and peoples’ choice. Witness professionals during their creative process. Visitors to Old Town can vote for their favorite, most interesting chalk creation of the day.
Impression 5 will be hosting a children’s area at the Sir Pizza parking area, on the corner of Grand River and Turner St. Children are invited to participate in various activities, and true to the day, draw and create artworks from chalk.
Only days away, you simply have to be in Old Town Saturday, June 4 to be a part of this exciting public display of artwork, and colorful addition to the district’s landscape. While strolling through streets turned canvas- as a frequent visitor of Old Town or new, you are sure to find a restaurant, art gallery, or shop that will spark your interest.
